Mukah Police Crack Down on Illegal Racers in ‘Op Samseng Jalanan’

Mukah, 22 March 2025 – Authorities in Mukah are stepping up efforts to curb illegal street racing with ongoing enforcement operations. On the night of 21 March 2025, the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division (BSPT) of Mukah IPD launched ‘Op Samseng Jalanan’ along Jalan Mukah-Oya, targeting reckless riders and modified motorcycles.

The operation, led by one officer and three personnel, resulted in the detention of five motorcycles, which were brought to Mukah IPD for further inspection. The enforcement team also issued eight summonses for various traffic violations, including:

Modified exhaust systems
No driving license
Missing registration numbers
Fancy number plates
No rear-view mirrors

In addition, two motorcycles were seized under Section 60 of the Road Transport Act 1987, which allows authorities to confiscate vehicles involved in dangerous activities.

Public Safety Comes First

The operation, which began at 7:00 PM and ended at 11:30 PM, is part of the police’s continuous efforts to keep Mukah’s roads safe. Illegal racing not only endangers the lives of the riders but also poses a serious threat to other road users.

Mukah police urge the public to report any illegal racing activities and remind riders to follow traffic laws to avoid strict legal action.

“We will continue these operations to ensure road safety and take firm action against traffic offenders,” said a representative from Mukah IPD.
