Fire Destroys Vehicle Spare Parts Shop in Miri Early Morning Blaze

MIRI, April 27 – A shop selling vehicle spare parts along Jalan Jee Foh, Miri, was completely destroyed in a fire early this morning.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre (PGO), they received an emergency call about the incident at around 2.10am. Firefighters from the Miri Sentral Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), assisted by personnel from the Lopeng BBP, were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Upon arrival, the shop was already engulfed in flames. Firefighters quickly worked to control the blaze to prevent it from spreading to nearby buildings. As of 8.35am, the fire department was still conducting overhaul work to ensure that the fire was fully extinguished and to avoid any re-ignition.

No injuries have been reported so far. However, the shop and its contents, mainly vehicle spare parts, were completely destroyed by the fire.

JBPM Sarawak stated that investigations are currently ongoing to determine the exact cause of the fire and the total amount of losses.

The swift action of the fire and rescue teams helped to contain the situation and avoid greater damage to nearby properties. The authorities have reminded business owners to regularly check and maintain their electrical systems and to always ensure fire safety measures are in place to prevent similar incidents.

Business owners in the area are also urged to install fire alarms and have basic firefighting equipment available at all times, especially in shops dealing with highly flammable materials.

Further updates on the investigation will be shared once more information becomes available.
