Emergency services were dispatched to the scene and arrived at approximately 1.43 PM. Upon arrival, police confirmed that the driver of the Perodua Aruz, a 31-year-old man, had tragically died at the scene due to the severity of the crash. He was the only fatality reported in the incident.

The other drivers and passengers from the remaining three vehicles – the lorry, Triton, and Hilux – fortunately did not sustain any injuries, according to initial emergency reports.

The operation was safely concluded by 2.42 PM, and the case has since been handed over to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for further investigation. At the time of writing, the cause of the accident has not been officially released.

Authorities have urged motorists travelling along the Jalan Kunak-Tawau stretch to be extra cautious, especially during peak hours and unpredictable weather conditions. The public is also reminded to obey traffic laws and maintain safe driving habits to avoid further loss of life on the roads.

This latest fatal incident adds to the growing concern over road safety in Sabah, where a number of serious accidents have occurred in recent months.
