9 FRU Officers Killed in Lorry Collision Identified

TELUK INTAN, 13 May 2025 – Malaysia mourns the loss of nine dedicated members of the Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) who were tragically killed in a road accident involving a truck and a lorry on Jalan Chikus-Sungai Lampam early this morning.

The fatal incident, which occurred at around 8.50am, shocked the nation and has left families, friends, and the police force grieving the sudden loss of these brave officers.

Perak Police Chief, Datuk Noor Hisam Nordin, confirmed that all nine victims were junior police officers from the Sungai Senam FRU base in Ipoh. Eight of them hailed from Perak, while one officer was from Kedah.

The officers who lost their lives in the crash have been identified as:

  • Sgt Perumal a/l Sugunanathan, 44, from Lahat, Ipoh
  • Sgt Mohd Roslan Abd Rahim, 46, from Tanjung Rambutan, Ipoh
  • Cpl Mohd Pozli Jaudin, 41, from Gunung Rapat, Ipoh
  • Cpl Nurit Ak Pandak, 34, from Kampar
  • Cpl Amiruddin Zabri, 38, from Gopeng
  • Cpl Mohamad Hilmi Mohd Azlan, 38, from Taiping
  • Cpl Muhamad Akmal Muhamad, 35, from Kuala Kurau
  • Lt Cpl Damarrulan Abdul Latif, 33, from Ipoh
  • Constable Akmal Wafi Annuar, 28, from Lunas, Kedah

According to initial reports, the truck transporting the FRU personnel collided with a lorry under circumstances still being investigated.

“This is a great loss to the police force and the nation. We are extending our full support to the families of the victims,” said Datuk Noor Hisam in a press conference.

The bodies of the officers have been sent to the Teluk Intan Hospital for post-mortem examination. The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the traffic police unit.

Condolences have poured in from across the country, including from high-ranking officials and members of the public, expressing sorrow and appreciation for the service and sacrifice of the fallen officers. — Bernama
