The event was graced by the presence of Sarawak’s Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi. Also in attendance was the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, together with his wife, Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang.

The prestigious ceremony was also attended by Sarawak’s Deputy Premiers – Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, and Datuk Amar Professor Dr Sim Kui Hian. Other notable figures included the Speaker of the Sarawak State Assembly, Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, the State Secretary, Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, as well as state ministers, deputy ministers, assembly members (ADUN), and department heads.

The evening began with a lively opening performance – the ‘Gatsby Dance’, a vibrant and energetic routine delivered by the Kasuma Tari dance troupe, inspired by the glamour of the 1920s. The performance set a lively tone for the night and was followed by a series of vocal performances by local artistes, further enriching the celebratory mood.

The banquet served not only as a formal opening to the state legislative session but also as a symbol of unity and tradition, highlighting Sarawak’s commitment to strong leadership, cultural pride, and dignified governance.

Such ceremonial gatherings reflect the strength of Sarawak’s administrative values and serve as an important platform to honour the roles of leaders and institutions within the state. – Sarawakku
