During a working visit to the area, the Premier inspected the progress of the cable-stayed bridge and was satisfied with the construction pace. He revealed that the bridge may be operational as early as April 2026.

“This bridge will boost connectivity from Limbang to the Brunei border and support existing trade ties with Brunei,” he said.

The Premier highlighted that the bridge is not just an infrastructure project but a gateway to regional growth, especially in tourism and commerce.

“With this bridge, travel time from Bandar Seri Begawan to Limbang will be cut to just 30 minutes. This makes Limbang a prime destination for Bruneian tourists,” he explained.

He also announced a special master plan to beautify and develop Limbang town in a structured and cost-effective way. Central to this vision is the revamp of Limbang’s waterfront, which is the longest in Sarawak, set to become a major tourist attraction.

“When completed, this waterfront will attract more visitors. We’ll also work with Air Borneo and Royal Brunei to boost tourism,” he added.

During his stop at the Limbang Development Museum, the Premier suggested enhancing the exhibits with videos showcasing the region’s historical and future development, including seamless mobility between Lawas and Limbang.

Looking ahead, the area around the museum will see the construction of government offices, a three-star hotel, and improved road links via a coastal dual carriageway to Lawas.
