Opar Assemblyman Urges Preservation of Customs and Religion in Modern Era

LUNDU: Opar State Assemblyman Billy Sujang emphasized the importance of preserving customs and religion as foundational pillars of noble values during the Closing Ceremony of the 2025 Gawai Dayak Celebration at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Holy Name, held at Dewan Kasol, Kampung Rukam, on Thursday.

Addressing the community, Sujang urged the younger generation to balance their pursuit of knowledge with the preservation of cultural heritage. “Amid the busyness of gaining education, we must ensure our customs, particularly those of the Salako Rara community, are not lost to time,” he said, pledging continued support for initiatives that strengthen cultural identity.

Sujang also encouraged students to embrace Science, despite its challenges, highlighting its critical role in national development. “Young people must be bold in mastering Science, as it is vital for our country’s future progress,” he stated.
