MAKSAK Women Holds Yaasin and Tahlil Ceremony for Late Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani

MAKSAK Women Holds Yaasin and Tahlil Ceremony for Late Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani

KUCHING: The Sarawak Women’s Welfare and Sports Council (MAKSAK) organized a Surah Yaasin and Tahlil Recitation Ceremony to honour the late Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, former MAKSAK Women’s Advisor, at Wisma SABATI on Friday. The event, held under the MAKSAK Cares initiative, paid tribute to her enduring contributions to community welfare.

The ceremony was attended by MAKSAK Women’s Chairman Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang, MAKSAK Women’s Advisor Datuk Amar Datin Patinggi Jamilah Anu, MAKSAK Women’s Exco members, Sarawak Women’s Power Association (SABATI) members, and the late Puan Sri’s immediate family. Ustazah Anisah binti Amit from the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) led the recitation of Surah Yaasin, followed by Tahlil and prayers for the deceased.

Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani, wife of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, passed away on June 23, 2025, at Normah Medical Centre and was laid to rest at Semariang Islamic Cemetery. Renowned for her people-centric approach, she played a pivotal role in advancing community development and welfare through her active involvement in MAKSAK and SABATI.

The MAKSAK Cares initiative, a cornerstone of her legacy since its inception in 2020, has supported civil servants, B40 students, and suburban communities while driving MAKSAK Wanita Sarawak’s social programs. Her contributions continue to inspire efforts toward inclusive community development across Sarawak.
