The free outdoor concert, held at Zone A of the waterfront, transported the audience into the whimsical world of Disney with a 65-piece orchestra under the direction of The Band Lab founder Jesmond Siew. The event opened with Disney’s 100 Years of Wonder, setting the stage for a night filled with nostalgia and enchantment.

Songs like Beauty and the Beast, A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes, The Lion Sleeps Tonight, Frozen 2 Medley, and The Circle of Life stirred emotions in both the young and the old. As each tune filled the air, fireworks sparkled above in perfect sync, turning the night sky into a canvas of colour and light.

The musical magic was heightened by vocalists Dell Lawrence, Ng Chien, Christine Chai, Taylor Louise, Ashwaree, and Shann Liaw, supported by The Voice Lab and graceful dancers from Iris School of Ballet.

The night’s success drew praise from Sarawak Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who attended with his deputy Datuk Snowdan Lawan and Permanent Secretary Datu Sherrina Hussaini.

Despite light rain earlier in the evening, families turned out in full force, many bringing children excited to hear familiar Disney tunes in a grand live format. Abdul Karim commended the organisers via Facebook for a “quality and entertaining performance that brought joy to many.”

The event was organised by The Band Lab, with support from the Ministry of National Unity and the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Sarawak. Key partners included Century Music School, AOrchestra, Hero AVL Management, Averlution, KTT, MG Couture, Lucia Martina, Old Court House, Iris School of Ballet, and PyroMaster.

As the final notes faded and the last fireworks lit up the sky, Kuching stood still for a moment — united in awe and wonder.
