LUNDU – Opar State Assemblyman (ADUN), Billy Sujang, conducted a site visit on Tuesday to inspect and review the progress of several church development projects within his constituency, highlighting the importance of enhancing religious facilities for the local Christian community.
The working visit began at Kampung Bitokan with an inspection of the proposed site for the new St Gregory Church Hall. Billy also joined a dialogue session with the St Gregory Catholic Church Committee (KGK) and representatives from relevant technical agencies to discuss detailed plans and requirements for the upcoming construction.
He emphasised that the new church hall will not only provide a safe and comfortable space for worship but also serve as a hub for spiritual and social activities that strengthen community cohesion.
Following that, Billy proceeded to Kampung Stum Muda to assess the ongoing upgrade works at St Jude Church, further demonstrating his commitment to rural religious infrastructure development.
“These efforts reflect our mission to ensure that houses of worship in rural areas are well-maintained and continually improved,” he stated.
He also expressed gratitude to the local community for their cooperation and dedication in supporting these projects.
Billy reiterated that the Sarawak Government remains steadfast in supporting the development of religious facilities for all faiths, underscoring the state’s continued commitment to harmony, inclusivity, and the well-being of its people.
