Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, granted the approval following a briefing on the project’s development by the General Manager of the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA), Datu Sr Zaidi Mahdi. The announcement was made during a ceremony where 68 relocated fishermen families received house keys under the first phase of the project.

According to an official LCDA statement, the second phase of the housing initiative will be implemented using the Industrial Building System (IBS) construction method and is fully funded by the Sarawak Government with an allocation of RM22.1 million.

This follows the successful completion of the first phase, which involved infrastructure works, house construction, and upgrades worth RM58.2 million.

Datu Sr Zaidi highlighted that the new homes will be built on the existing, fully prepared site, allowing for immediate commencement of construction. “Utilising the current infrastructure not only reduces execution time but also optimises cost efficiency,” he said.

He further emphasised that the project is part of the “People’s Project” initiative under the Sarawak Government, aimed at delivering affordable, quality housing to underserved communities, especially fishermen.

The initiative reinforces the State Government’s inclusive and sustainable development agenda, ensuring that rural populations like those in Beladin are not left behind.

With this latest approval, the people of Beladin can look forward to better housing, improved community welfare, and long-term socioeconomic uplifting.
