A special gathering was held in Perth, Australia, bringing together Sarawakian students and members of the Sarawak diaspora residing in the region. The event was aimed at fostering a sense of community and maintaining strong ties between Sarawak and its citizens abroad.
The evening was attended by Dr Sim Kui Hian, a prominent Sarawak leader, who engaged with students currently pursuing their studies at universities across Perth. The event was made possible with the support of HE Eliza, the Consul General of Malaysia in Perth, who played a vital role in organising the gathering.
Also present at the dinner were Vice Consul HE Azmir, Sarawakian immigration officer Ms Halimah from the Malaysia Consulate in Perth, and Dr Kho Lay Khoon, a fellow Sarawakian and the Head of Neurology Service at Royal Perth Hospital. Their participation highlighted the diverse contributions of Sarawakians abroad, from diplomatic service to medical leadership.
The gathering provided a valuable opportunity for Sarawakian youth to connect with experienced professionals and receive encouragement in their academic journeys. It also reinforced the Sarawak government’s commitment to staying engaged with its people overseas and nurturing future leaders.
Such initiatives continue to strengthen the Sarawak identity and community spirit, even thousands of miles from home.
