KUCHING – The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, received two separate courtesy visits at the Sarawak State Astana on Thursday, further strengthening ties between religious and cultural institutions.
The first delegation was from the Sarawak Mufti Department, led by Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department, Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi, who also oversees Kuching North City Hall and Islamic Affairs. He was accompanied by State Mufti Datu Kipli Yasin, Department Director Ahmad Sukarno Saini, and Head of the Falak Division Mohd. Fauzi Hairani.
During the visit, Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman officially invited the Governor to officiate the Opening Ceremony of the Bintulu Astronomy Centre, scheduled for 12 August 2025. The centre, which began construction on 27 August 2020, was completed on 9 November 2022 and commenced operations on 1 February 2023.
Following this, the Governor and his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd. Sanusi, received a second courtesy call from the Pahang Museum Corporation.
The delegation was led by Pahang Museum Director Dato Ahmad Farid Abd. Jalal and accompanied by Sarawak Ministry of Tourism Permanent Secretary Datu Sherrina Hussaini, Craft Council CEO Suriya Charles, and other cultural representatives.
This visit served to extend a formal invitation to Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi to attend the Pahang Heritage Festival, which will be held from 31 August to 7 September 2025.
Both meetings underscore Sarawak’s ongoing commitment to enhancing interstate collaboration in religious and cultural development.
