The closing ceremony was officiated by Batu Kitang Assemblyman, YB Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang, who expressed his honour in supporting such a significant initiative. The event was held under the coordination of the Kuching Resident Office, drawing participation from penghulus, kapitans, community leaders, and Jawatankuasa Kemajuan dan Keselamatan Kampung (JKKK) representatives.

In his speech, Dato Lo said the seminar was not just a routine programme but a critical platform to build a more united and well-managed community structure.

“Strong grassroots leadership is the backbone of national harmony. This seminar helps equip our chiefs and JKKK members with the tools they need to serve effectively,” he said.

Among the participants was the Secretary of JKKK Batu 3–6 Kuching, who attended the seminar alongside Penghulu Thian, Kapitan Kuan Ted Chai, and several others. The seminar outlined key aspects of leadership responsibilities, especially in the context of:

  • Roles of Ketua Komuniti, secretary, treasurer, and JKKK members
  • Governance principles such as integrity, transparency, and accountability
  • The importance of delivering accurate and timely information to residents
  • Collaboration frameworks between the District Office and local JKKKs

The seminar also stressed that empowering grassroots leaders is vital for ensuring smooth administration, fostering harmony, and enhancing the well-being of the rakyat at the community level.

Participants were encouraged to carry forward what they had learned to benefit their respective villages and communities, with a shared hope that similar capacity-building programmes will continue in the future.

Congratulations were extended to all organisers and attendees for their commitment to making the seminar a success and a benchmark for future community development initiatives.
