Miri FA Elects New Leadership, Prioritises Grassroots and Youth Football Development

MIRI – The Miri Division Football Association (Miri FA) has reaffirmed its strong commitment to grassroots and youth football development following the successful conclusion of its 7th Annual General Meeting (AGM), held at Mercure Hotel, Miri on Sunday.

The AGM, attended by Miri FA members and local club representatives, focused on reviewing achievements over the past two years and laying the foundation for the 2025–2027 term.

Key highlights included the election of a new Executive Committee (Exco), chaired by Sophie Shariee, Vice President of the Sarawak Football Association (FAS).

In her remarks, Sophie emphasised the importance of unified collaboration among all stakeholders to elevate football in the Miri Division:

“Building grassroots should never be taken lightly. The active involvement of local clubs in football development programmes including coaching and officiating aspects should be emphasised for our efforts to be continuous and effective,” she said.

The newly elected leadership for Miri FA (2025–2027) includes:

  • President: Mohamad Saif Jubaidi
  • Vice President: Nazri Ahmad Lai
  • Secretary: Ahmad Mujahid Ahmad Najib
  • Treasurer: Zainuddin Rakawi

Additional Vice Presidents:

  • Sabri Amin
  • Wan Nudzurulisyam Wan Bujang
  • Pengiran Bala
  • Elizabeth Oyau
  • Mohd Azra Ayub

Under this fresh leadership, Miri FA has outlined several priorities:

  • Enhancing local football competition structures
  • Expanding youth development programmes
  • Strengthening strategic partnerships with government, private sector, and local communities

The association aims to build an inclusive and progressive football ecosystem in Miri, one that nurtures talent from the grassroots up and positions the division as a powerhouse in Sarawak football.
