Among the key initiatives reviewed were road improvement works aimed at upgrading former logging routes to Pa’ Derong, Pa’ Ramudu, and Batu Patong, which are expected to significantly enhance connectivity for the highland communities.

In addition, Dr. Abdul Rahman inspected the construction of new water treatment and supply systems that will serve residents in Pa’ Mada, Pa’ Dalih, Pa’ Ramudu, and Batu Patong.

These projects are intended to ensure consistent access to clean water while reducing dependence on limited traditional sources.

The Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) also delivered a briefing to update stakeholders on the current status of implementation and future planning.

Dr. Abdul Rahman said the initiatives are central to improving basic infrastructure, enhancing quality of life, and creating new socio-economic opportunities for Bario residents and surrounding settlements.

“Projects under HDA not only strengthen connectivity and service delivery but also open new avenues for community development and local economic growth,” he noted.

Also present during the visit was HDA Regional Director, Juan Ubit, who provided technical updates on the progress and challenges faced on the ground.

The HDA, established under RECODA, has been instrumental in addressing infrastructure gaps across Sarawak’s highland areas, with a focus on long-term resilience, sustainability, and inclusive growth.
