Selangau Trailer Crash Leaves Driver Seriously Injured at Mile 40

SELANGAU – A trailer driver was seriously injured after his vehicle was involved in a head-on crash at Mile 40, Jalan Sungai Kua, this morning.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Operations Centre (PGO) said they received an emergency call regarding the incident at 9.49am. A team from the Selangau Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was immediately dispatched to the scene.

According to the statement, firefighters discovered a head-on accident involving a trailer head upon arrival. The 34-year-old driver had sustained serious injuries but was successfully rescued by members of the public before the rescue team reached the site.

“Firefighters provided initial treatment to stabilise the victim before handing him over to the Ministry of Health (MOH) ambulance team for further medical attention. The victim was then transported to hospital for treatment,” the statement added.

The rescue team also carried out cleaning work at the location to ensure safety for other road users. The operation involved the use of a single flow of auxiliary water, nozzle equipment, and machinery.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the crash.

This latest incident highlights once again the risks faced by heavy vehicle drivers on Sarawak’s major roads, especially in areas such as Jalan Sungai Kua, which has seen several serious accidents in the past. Road users are urged to drive with extra caution and maintain safe driving practices to avoid tragedies.
