IPOH – A tragic incident unfolded early Wednesday morning when a woman, initially mistaken for a man with feminine appearance, was found dead after being run over by a lorry near Jalan Horley, Kampung Jawa.
The victim, believed to be in her 30s, was discovered by a hotel worker at around 6am lying motionless in a pool of blood. A brown wig was also found near the body, raising initial confusion over the victim’s identity.
Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad, confirmed that the victim suffered severe head and back injuries. He added that no identification documents were recovered at the scene.
“Closed-circuit television (CCTV) recordings revealed that the incident occurred at 4.24am. The victim was seen being chased by a white bonded lorry before a struggle broke out with the suspect. The victim then fell and was run over by the vehicle, which immediately left the scene,” he said.
Abang Zainal Abidin further explained that police have identified the owner and driver of the lorry involved in the case. The suspect is now being tracked down to assist with investigations.
An autopsy conducted at the Forensic Department of Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) confirmed that the cause of death was due to severe head and chest injuries sustained in the collision.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. Police are appealing to the public for any information related to the case.
