MIRI — A total of 151 Indonesian detainees were transferred back to their home country in a coordinated operation led by the Immigration Department yesterday evening.
The group, which included 109 adult men, 33 women, eight boys and one girl, were escorted from the Bekenu Immigration Depot, Miri to the Tebedu-Entikong Immigration Control Post. The transfer began at 7.45pm and continued until the process was fully completed.
These individuals had been detained for various immigration offences. Their return was conducted according to the standard operating procedures (SOP) of the Malaysian Immigration Department, ensuring compliance with security and logistical requirements.
To guarantee smooth operations, 14 immigration officers were assigned as the escort team. The operation was led by TPPI Felicia Bangau anak Tambi. Logistical arrangements included the use of a four-wheel drive vehicle, a Toyota Hiace van and four passenger buses to transport the detainees safely to the border.
Immigration authorities confirmed that the transfer was carried out in collaboration with relevant border agencies to maintain order and security. All measures were taken to ensure that the operation adhered to established procedures without incident.
The successful coordination highlights the continuous effort of Malaysian authorities in addressing immigration-related matters while maintaining strong cooperation with neighbouring countries. The Immigration Department also reminded that strict enforcement will continue against individuals who violate immigration laws.
