Sarawak Premier Attends Pahang Heritage Festival at Royal Invitation

PEKAN – Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, today accepted an invitation from His Majesty the King of Pahang to attend the prestigious Pahang Heritage Festival held at the Tunku Azizah Royal Craft Village, Pulau Keladi, Pekan.

The Sarawak Premier was warmly received upon his arrival by His Majesty the Tengku Ampuan of Pahang, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah binti Almarhum Sultan Iskandar Al-Haj, alongside His Excellency Tun Seri Setia (Dr) Haji Mohd Ali bin Mohd Rustam, Yang di-Pertua Negeri Melaka, and his wife, Yang Amat Berbahagia Toh Puan Datuk Wira (Dr) Hajah Asmah binti Haji Abdul Rahman.

During the official visit, the Premier and Tengku Ampuan explored key locations within the craft village, including the Pahang Serambi House, Birthplace of Tun Abdul Razak, Tengku Ampuan I Exhibition Hall, Sarawak Pavilion, various craft workshops, Tengku Ampuan II Exhibition Hall, Pahang Weaving Institute, and the Weaving Exhibition, showcasing Pahang’s rich cultural heritage and fine arts.

Following the tour, the delegation attended a formal lunch with His Majesty the Sultan of Pahang and His Majesty the Tengku Ampuan Pahang in a ceremony steeped in traditional customs. During the event, the Sarawak Premier presented souvenirs as tokens of goodwill.

Accompanying the Premier were Dato Sri Haji Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts as well as Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development of Sarawak; Datuk Hajah Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, Malaysia Agreement 1963 and State-Federal Relations); and Dayang Norjihan binti Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari, daughter of the Sarawak Premier.

This high-profile visit strengthens cultural ties between Sarawak and Pahang and highlights the importance of preserving Malaysia’s diverse heritage for future generations. – Sarawakku
