GEDONG – The district-level Maulidur Rasul 1447H/2025M celebration in Gedong drew attention not only for its spiritual significance but also for its role in fostering community unity and supporting regional development.
Held at Dewan Datuk Patinggi Ali, the event featured a five-kilometer parade with nearly 700 participants from 14 contingents, showcasing the district’s vibrant multicultural spirit.
Along the route, villagers, mosques, and suraus provided food at 10 designated stops, adding a unique communal touch to the celebration.
Batang Sadong MP Rodiyah Sapiee, speaking at the closing ceremony, emphasized the importance of this year’s theme, “Ummah Maju Makmur”, which promotes a vision of a spiritually grounded yet economically, educationally, and technologically progressive Muslim society.
She highlighted that Gedong is undergoing a transformation, with several major development projects underway that are expected to benefit the local population significantly.
Rodiyah urged the youth to prepare for these changes by cultivating knowledge, discipline, and entrepreneurial skills.
“In the next five to 10 years, Gedong will undergo a major transformation.We want to see Gedong not only progress in terms of physical development, but also prosper with a knowledgeable, morally upright community living in the spirit of brotherhood,” she said.
She also cautioned against rising social issues such as drug abuse, moral decline, and irresponsible use of social media, stressing the need for vigilance to protect the younger generation.
The celebration included a series of competitions such as Quran Recitation, Hafazan, Berzanji, Rawi, Zikir, Nasyid, Gate Design, Young Preacher, and Jawi Sermon Reading.
Ali Bujang was honored as the Gedong Maulidur Rasul Hero, receiving RM1,000, a certificate, and a plaque for his contributions to the community.
Surau Assyakirin Kampung Kanchong Baru Gedong was named the Overall Champion, earning RM1,500 and a trophy for its outstanding participation.
Among the dignitaries present were Dato Sri Mohd Naroden Majais, Advisor to MINTRED and Special Representative of the Gedong ADUN, Gedong District Officer Tamida Da’adi, Dato Posa Majais of ACE Investment Bank, Farrah Sofya Mohd Sharbini from the Gedong District Council, Abu Talip Ghazali of the Simunjan Education Office, and Pemanca Abang Ronnie Abang Sa’adeli.
The event underscored Gedong’s commitment to nurturing a united, forward-looking community rooted in Islamic values and social progress.
