UNIMAS Elevates Sarawak as Global Knowledge Hub Hosting EACEF 2025

KOTA SAMARAHAN – Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) has once again placed Sarawak on the global stage by hosting the 9th International Euro Asia Civil Engineering Forum (EACEF 2025).

The conference was officially inaugurated by Sarawak’s Deputy Premier and UNIMAS Pro-Chancellor, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who highlighted its critical role in advancing the state’s Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, particularly in fostering innovation across renewable energy, biodiversity, digital economy, and urban resilience.

Held from 9 to 11 September 2025 at UNIMAS’s Faculty of Engineering in Kota Samarahan, the event unfolded under the theme “Beyond Boundaries: Empowering Innovations in Civil and Environmental Engineering.”

It featured more than 100 international participants, with 77 technical papers presented alongside six keynote sessions delivered by experts from Malaysia, Indonesia, Germany, Switzerland, and South Korea.

UNIMAS Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr. Ahmad Hata Rasit, expressed the university’s commitment to multidisciplinary research collaboration.

He emphasised leveraging Borneo’s rich biodiversity, cultural legacy, and ecosystems as a basis for devising solutions to global challenges.

First established in Stuttgart, Germany, in 2006, the EACEF conference alternates between Europe and Asia biennially.
