KUCHING – The Maulidur Rasul 1447/2025 celebration at Masjid Darul Ibadah, Batu Kawa, was marked with joy and unity as hundreds of residents gathered on Thursday for a vibrant programme that included a religious procession, inspiring talks, and a community feast.
The event, which aimed to strengthen ties among local residents, was graced by Senator Dato’ Ahmad Dato’ Sri Ibrahim, whose presence added significance to the celebration.
In his address, Senator Dato’ Ahmad reminded the congregation that the birth of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was the greatest blessing for mankind and continues to serve as a timeless example for Muslims worldwide.
He highlighted three values demonstrated by the Prophet — honesty and trustworthiness, compassion and brotherhood, and wise leadership — which he urged the community to embrace in their daily lives.
“These values are highly relevant in Sarawak’s multicultural society. We must reject division, strengthen unity, and nurture an educated young generation of good character,” he said.
The senator further emphasised that the strength of the Muslim ummah does not lie in numbers, but in the unity of hearts. In Sarawak’s diverse setting, Islamic brotherhood must be cultivated alongside inter-ethnic harmony to ensure lasting peace.
As part of his support, Senator Dato’ Ahmad contributed RM6,000 to the organising committee for this year’s celebration and pledged RM10,000 for the 2026 programme. He said this was to ensure the continuity of meaningful initiatives that promote both religious values and community solidarity.
The event concluded with collective prayers and a reminder for Muslims to practice the Prophet’s sunnah as a guide in family life, community development, and leadership.
Among those present were key community leaders and government officials, including Morshidi Said, Private Secretary to the Deputy Prime Minister; Kuching District Officer, Zaidi Sharkawi; former Temenggong, Dato’ Helmi Mohd Gol; Temenggong Abdullah Jamel; Pemanca Rosli Sahari; and Penghulu Sariee Mansor. — UKAS EDITION
