Limbang to Host Mud Festival and Bukit Mas Day Festival in 2025

Limbang to Host Mud Festival and Bukit Mas Day Festival in 2025

LIMBANG – The Limbang District Council (MDL) will host two significant cultural and tourism events in late 2025: the Mud Festival (September 20–21) in Kampung Meritam and the Bukit Mas Day Festival (early October) at the Lot 777 parking area.

MDL Chairman Councillor Sufian Mohat emphasized that these festivals aim to boost domestic and international tourism while celebrating local heritage and identity.

The Mud Festival, themed “Bebuak,” will feature unique activities like Coconut Bowling, Aerobics, folk sports, and the inaugural Bebuak Mud Slide competition.

Additional events include Petanque, Bebuak Volleyball, Cross-Country races, and the Bebuak Warrior challenge. Family-friendly activities such as cooking, flower arranging, and coloring competitions will also be held.

The festival will include the official handover of the Bebuak area development project by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MOTAC) to MDL, officiated by Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Ismail.

The 18th Bukit Mas Day Festival will see expanded participation from Peninsular Malaysia, Brunei, and Borneo. Highlights include the Mr. Wonderful Competition, a fishing contest with a RM5,000 cash prize, and a Fun Run offering a motorcycle as the grand prize.

The event aims to promote the Tasik Mas Recreation Park, a nearby hiking and outdoor area, as a key tourist destination while showcasing ethnic and cultural products. Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan will officiate the opening.

These festivals align with Limbang’s broader development strategy, including its Landscape Master Plan focused on greening, well-being, and cultural heritage.

They also support the ASEAN Sustainable Urbanisation Forum’s goals of inclusive and sustainable regional growth.
