KUCHING – A total of 227 individuals were recognised for their service and dedication during the Sarawak State Awards Ceremony at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly Complex on Tuesday.
The investiture, held at the Dewan Santapan, highlighted contributions from citizens across various sectors. Recipients received medals and honours that acknowledged their commitment to the state’s progress and the well-being of society.
The event was officiated by the Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, who was accompanied by his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.
Among the award categories presented was the Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (P.P.C.), which this year was conferred solely on Datin Helen Lim Hui Shyan.
For the Darjah Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Sarawak-Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (P.B.S.), recipients included Japar Mustapa and Dr. Stephen William.
Meanwhile, 19 individuals were honoured with the Darjah Utama Yang Amat Mulia Bintang Kenyalang Sarawak-Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (P.B.K.), among them Rais Ahmat, Mohd Irwan Abdullah, Ting Sie Loh and Joseph Chioh Hock Hua.
Over 20 people, including Ir. Ahmad Aripin Saiman, Denny Lim, Dr. Charlie Dudang and Deputy Superintendent of Police Zuriawati Zainal Abidin, received the Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti (P.P.B.).
Recipients of the Ahli Bintang Sarawak (A.B.S.) included Nicholas Bawin Burong, Ritchell Sidi, Wong King Ho, Walter Chang, Norliza Mohamad Salleh and Sussie Stuart, who accepted on behalf of the late Soontik Changkan.
The Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (A.B.K.) was presented to more than 30 recipients, such as Abdullah Madil, Ahmad Yusof Abdul Razak, Kenedy Bungsu, Dr. Zurwina Sharkawi, Hasmah Hasbi and Surya Bily.
Other honours included the Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji (P.P.T.), awarded to Alex Samson, Jumadi Ahmad, Nur Dayana Abdullah and Rosnah Tudin.
The ceremony concluded with the Bentara Bintang Sarawak (B.B.S.), conferred upon over 40 recipients including Ibau Emang, Charlie Avit Anyi, John Tik, Jalil Ladi, Aida Pakar, Jennifer Seping Ajeng and Saloma Jamit.
The awards ceremony, which also saw the attendance of Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar, Speaker of the Sarawak Legislative Assembly, and senior state leaders, reflects the government’s recognition of individuals who have contributed to the state’s growth and community development.
