Opar Assemblyman Sponsors Lundu Bodybuilder for Mr Malaysia 2025

LUNDU – Opar State Assemblyman Billy Sujang has extended sponsorship support to local bodybuilder Jwendy Joshua, who will represent Sarawak at the upcoming Mr Malaysia 2025 competition in the Light Middleweight 80kg category.

The handover ceremony took place on Tuesday at the Lundu District Office, with District Officer Awang Yusup Awang Mostapha in attendance.

Jwendy, 37, hails from the Salako community in Kampung Sebiris, Lundu, and began his bodybuilding career in 2019.

Since then, he has achieved significant success at district and state levels, bringing recognition to both Lundu and Sarawak.

Among his achievements are:

  • Champion in the 75.1kg Bodybuilding Category at Mr Sarawak 2024
  • 4th place in the 75kg category at Mr Sarawak 2024
  • 8th place in the Welterweight 75kg category at Mr Malaysia 2024
  • Champion in the 75.1kg Bodybuilding Category at Mr Kuching 2025

Billy emphasised that the sponsorship reflects strong support for nurturing local sporting talent, particularly athletes capable of competing nationally.

“Young people like Jwendy show that with discipline and hard work, rural communities can produce athletes who shine at the national level. I believe he will inspire the younger generation in Lundu and Sematan to pursue sports,” he said.

He added that the sponsorship not only acknowledges Jwendy’s accomplishments but also serves as moral encouragement as he prepares to compete on the national stage.

The Mr Malaysia 2025 championship will provide Jwendy with an opportunity to elevate Sarawak’s sporting profile and inspire more youth to explore bodybuilding and fitness.
