LUNDU – The Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) is set to enhance rural infrastructure with the construction of two new multipurpose halls in Kampung Bitokan 2 and Kampung Titiakar within the Opar State Legislative Assembly (DUN) area.
The project, with a total allocation of RM900,000, was reviewed during a site visit led by Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang, alongside officers from the Public Works Department and the Land and Survey Department. The visit aimed to assess project preparations and address land reclamation issues for the two villages.
Each hall, valued at RM450,000, is designed to serve as a central hub for community activities, cultural, religious, and official events, strengthening both social cohesion and local identity.
Local leaders, including Giwan Mojin of Kampung Bitokan 2 and Untang Tajin of Kampung Titiakar, expressed their support for the initiative, highlighting its significance for the community.
Billy Sujang noted that the project reflects the state government’s commitment through GKCDA to provide better basic facilities in rural areas. He stressed that such infrastructure development remains a priority to enhance residents’ well-being.
“This hall will be the new heart of the village community, a place to gather and hold various activities to further strengthen the spirit of unity and community well-being,” he said.
