KUCHING: The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, and his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi attended the Thanksgiving Ceremony held in conjunction with the 79th Official Birthday Celebration of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak at Masjid Jamek Kuching, Thursday evening.

The couple arrived at 6.26 pm and were warmly welcomed by Deputy Minister of Utilities (Sarawak Energy Berhad and PETROS), Dato Ibrahim Baki, along with President of the Sarawak Islamic Council, Datuk Misnu Taha.

The ceremony, filled with a spirit of gratitude and reverence, was also attended by the Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg, and his daughter Dayang Norjihan.

The evening began at 6.31 pm with the Maghrib prayer in congregation, followed by the recitation of Surah Yasin led by the Grand Imam of Sarawak, Dato Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi. The event continued with Zikir Marhaban, performed by the Kuching Division Zikir Group Association, bringing a calm and spiritual atmosphere to the ceremony.

A thanksgiving prayer was then led by Dato Mustapha Kamal, before the congregation performed the Isyak prayer together. The event concluded with a dinner session, where Tun Pehin Sri, his wife, and guests shared a meal in unity and fellowship.

Also present were Deputy Premier of Sarawak Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts of Sarawak, and Minister responsible for the celebration, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah. Among the attendees were also Minister of Women, Children and Community Wellbeing Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah, Minister of Transport Dato Sri Lee Kim Shin, and State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki with his wife Datin Amar Baduyah Bujang.

The ceremony was also graced by several Deputy Ministers, elected representatives, department heads, and distinguished guests, marking a meaningful start to the celebrations honouring Sarawak’s Head of State on his 79th birthday.
