Kampung Salak Set for Infrastructure upgrades

KUCHING – A range of infrastructure upgrades will be implemented in Kampung Salak under the state’s Rural Transformation Programme (RTP).

The initiatives, confirmed by Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department, Datuk Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi, will feature the rebuilding of the village jetty and enhancements to the local mosque.

He affirmed the state government’s ongoing commitment to allocating funds for essential amenities, including road networks, and water and electricity supplies, to bolster the village’s development. “Kampung Salak will continue to be an example of unity and progress in the rural community,” he stated.

The announcement was made during the launch of the Kampung Salak Family Youth Charity Programme, which was held alongside an Open Fishing Competition. The event was organised by the Pantai Damai PBB Youth Branch and the Sarawak Fishing Community Association.

The assemblyman for Pantai Damai commended local residents for their dedicated involvement in ensuring the programme’s success. The three-day event attracted both villagers and outside visitors, featuring a diverse lineup of activities.

These included sepak takraw matches, various sports, karaoke sessions, and a fashion show. The main attraction was the Raja Sungai Salak Fishing Competition, which saw enthusiastic participation from nearly 200 anglers. The programme, which continued into the night, was met with a highly positive reception from the community.
