Opar Villages Benefit From New RTP Infrastructure

LUNDU – Three villages within the Opar state constituency are now utilising new facilities following the successful completion and official handover of three Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) projects.

The initiative, coordinated by the Bau District Council (MDB), was marked with a ceremony last Friday.

The newly inaugurated projects include a covered waiting area for student drop-offs at SK St Teresa Stenggang, a dedicated pedestrian walkway providing access to the Kampung Rumih Church, and a new drainage system running from the town hall to Sungai Gronong in Kampung Opar.

Opar Assemblyman, Billy Sujang, officiated the event, emphasising the significant impact of such community-focused developments.

Sujang described the ventures as small-scale but high-impact, fundamentally aimed at enhancing the well-being and safety of local residents.

He noted that the projects not only increase comfort for villagers but also serve to strengthen essential infrastructure in the area.

The assemblyman also extended his gratitude to the Bau District Council and the Community and Tribal Heads (KMKK) for their role in ensuring the projects aligned with the genuine needs of the community.

Executed with a total allocation of RM180,000 from the Opar constituency’s RTP funds for 2025, these projects directly benefit the residents of Kampung Stenggang, Kampung Rumih, and Kampung Opar.

This development is in line with the wider state government policy of accelerating and reinforcing rural development across Sarawak, ensuring remote communities gain access to improved amenities and services.
