Sri Aman Encourages Clean Public Spaces to Decrease Disease

SRI AMAN – Maintaining hygienic parks and communal areas is vital in collective endeavours to curb the transmission of diseases, according to Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development.

He highlighted that proactive measures are essential to mitigate health risks such as dengue fever, which can stem from mosquito breeding sites.

The Sri Aman District Council (MDSA), in partnership with Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK), has been conducting gotong-royong initiatives to reinforce community ties and elevate awareness about public sanitation.

These activities encompass tree pruning, general cleansing, and the eradication of potential mosquito habitats to ensure environments remain pleasant and secure.

Elected representatives, including Kapitan Kang Tai Hing and MDSA Councilors Balean Suji Inggol and Micheal Pillov Lachen, participated in a recent event held on Thursday.

In a separate development, the Simanggang Assemblyman disclosed that a RM500,000 allocation under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) will fund enhancements to drains and sewers from Kampung Bestari Pasir Panas to Batang Lupar.

Additionally, repairs to corroded piping in Lorong 2, Taman Kurniawan have been finalised. Upgrades to a car park and the headman’s base have also been executed to improve convenience for inhabitants.

Datuk Harden Hollis encouraged ongoing cooperation between MDSA and local residents to preserve facilities and uphold cleanliness standards across the district.
