SARATOK – The annual National Sports Day celebration for the Betong Division was successfully hosted at the Sri Kalaka Open Stage last Saturday.
The event is designed to encourage a more active and physically fit populace while reinforcing communal bonds.
Mohamad Duri, the Kalaka State Assemblyman, officiated the proceedings. He remarked that such gatherings are instrumental in cultivating a culture of regular physical activity.
He also emphasised that these activities serve to fortify relationships within the local community.
A diverse range of events was organised to engage participants of all generations. The programme featured mass aerobic sessions, a colouring contest for children, and a Madani cycling event.
Further entertainment was provided through street football matches and traditional sepak takraw games.
The vicinity of the main stage was animated with informational displays from various government bodies and public agencies. This annual initiative is considered a significant platform for improving public wellness.
Beyond physical health, it aims to strengthen social cohesion amongst residents, transcending differences in background, race, or religion. The National Sports Day is a nationwide effort to embed sports into the fabric of Malaysian society.
