Government Prioritises School Development to Support Future Generations

GEDONG – The government has reaffirmed its commitment to prioritising school infrastructure projects to ensure students and teachers benefit from safe and conducive learning environments.

Batang Sadong MP Rodiyah Sapiee said schools remain the foundation for nurturing the younger generation, and requests for maintenance or upgrades will continue to be given precedence over other development projects.

“I often say that school projects will come first before other projects because schools are where our children learn and shape their future,” she said when officiating the 9-Sided Football Tournament held in conjunction with the Active Youth Sports Competition (KESUMA) at SK Kepayang on Saturday.

Rodiyah announced that RM50,000 had been allocated for the construction of a covered landing road at SK Kepayang, with further requests for improvements to be monitored closely. She also contributed RM3,000 to the school’s Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG) to support ongoing activities.

She added that SK Kepayang is already listed under infrastructure improvement plans overseen by the District Education Office (PPD), with support from both state and federal governments.

Rodiyah praised the active involvement of the Kampung Kepayang community, noting their consistent efforts in organising sports programmes that bring together students and residents.

She commended the school and PIBG for successfully hosting the football tournament, which attracted 16 teams, including participants from Lubok Antu and Serian.

She stressed that such competitions go beyond sports, serving as platforms to instil discipline, teamwork, mutual respect, and understanding among students.

Also present at the event were SK Kepayang Principal Eda Obeng, PIBG Chairman Fallen Mixstil Niru, and representatives of the Ulu Gedong Zone Community and Community Leaders (KMKK).

The event highlighted the dual importance of education and community engagement, with school development projects and extracurricular activities working hand in hand to shape well-rounded future generations.
