Indonesian Man Killed, Three Injured in Bintulu Trailer and 4WD Collision

BINTULU: An Indonesian man lost his life while three others were injured in a tragic road accident involving a long trailer and a four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle near the Samalaju petrol station along Jalan Pesisir Bintulu-Miri this evening.

According to a spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), the incident was reported at around 5.33 pm. A team of six firefighters from the Kidurong Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Kidurong) was immediately dispatched to the scene to carry out rescue operations.

“Upon arrival, our team found that the crash involved a long trailer and a 4WD vehicle. One male victim, identified as an Indonesian national, was confirmed dead at the scene due to severe injuries,” the spokesperson said.

The collision caused serious damage to both vehicles, with debris scattered across the road, leading to temporary traffic congestion in the area. Passersby were seen stopping to assist the victims before emergency responders arrived.

The JBPM team worked with medical personnel from the Ministry of Health (MOH) to provide initial treatment to the three injured victims, including the trailer driver, before they were transported to Bintulu Hospital for further medical attention.

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased victim was handed over to the police for identification and further investigation. The authorities are now investigating the cause of the accident, including whether weather, mechanical failure, or human error played a role.

Local residents have once again urged motorists to drive carefully, especially along the busy Bintulu-Miri coastal stretch, which has been the site of several fatal accidents in recent months.
