BINTANGOR – The Sarawak Government has reinforced its commitment to community welfare in Tanjung Bundung, with two local organisations receiving a combined RM29,992 under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of the Land and Survey Department Sarawak.
The aid was presented by Datuk Abdullah Saidol, Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information and UKAS) and Semop Assemblyman, during a ceremony at Masjid Kampung Tanjung Bundung on Thursday.
Datuk Abdullah explained that the CSR programme reflects the State Government’s ongoing collaboration with mineral industry operators to support communities directly affected by relocation and extraction activities.
He emphasised that the initiative is designed to ensure that residents impacted by industrial operations receive fair and tangible benefits.
The recipients were SK Tanjung Bundung, Bintangor, which received RM19,992, and Masjid Darul Ibadah Kampung Tanjung Bundung, which was allocated RM10,000.
The funds will be used to upgrade mosque facilities for congregants and to procure educational resources for the school, enhancing the quality of learning for students.
Datuk Abdullah highlighted that the CSR initiative strengthens cooperation between the Government, industry players, and the community.
“The people must understand industry operations, know what is permitted and what is not, and serve as the eyes and ears of the Government in monitoring mining activities,” he said.
He added that the initiative is aligned with Sarawak’s broader development aspirations under the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030), which aims to position the state as a developed economy by 2030.
“The Government remains committed to ensuring Sarawak stays on track to becoming a developed state by 2030. All these efforts are for the wellbeing and future of our people,” he said.
Datuk Abdullah expressed hope that the assistance would be used effectively to benefit the recipients and contribute to long-term community development.
The event was attended by SR Awan Amal, Superintendent of Land and Survey Sarikei Division, Abang Noramin Fathullah from the Meradong District Office, Lau Chi Sing, Secretary of the Meradong Julau District Council, as well as representatives from government agencies, community leaders, and local residents.
Their presence underscored the importance of collaboration in ensuring that CSR initiatives deliver meaningful impact at the grassroots level.
