SANDAKAN – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reiterated that Malaysia’s progress must be anchored in leadership that protects the welfare of all citizens, regardless of race, religion, or background.
Speaking at a gathering with the Chinese community in Karamunting and Elopura, the Prime Minister emphasised that the government’s responsibility is to ensure every voice is valued.
He stressed that inclusivity remains central to the administration’s policies, particularly in addressing the needs of communities across Sabah and Sarawak.
Anwar noted that Malaysia’s future depends on leaders who are fair, empathetic, and committed to advancing the well-being of the people.
“The country needs leadership that truly upholds the well-being of all its people regardless of religion, race or background,” he said. He added that the government stands for all Malaysians, with no group left behind.
The Prime Minister highlighted that Sabahans deserve equitable access to development, spanning infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.
He underlined that the principle of fairness must extend from the Peninsula to East Malaysia, ensuring balanced growth across the federation.
His remarks come amid heightened political attention in Sabah, with the state preparing for its upcoming election.
Anwar has consistently urged cooperation between the federal and state governments, warning against parochial sentiments that could hinder national progress.
He has also emphasised that Pakatan Harapan will support the incoming Sabah administration to guarantee smooth collaboration with Putrajaya, reinforcing commitments to development projects.
The Prime Minister pointed out that Sabah has been among the states receiving the largest allocations under the unity government, including funding for schools and essential facilities.
He reminded communities that these investments reflect the administration’s pledge to deliver tangible improvements in daily life.
Beyond Sabah, Anwar has repeatedly framed inclusivity and sustainability as the foundation of Malaysia’s resurgence.
Earlier this year, he stressed that prosperity must be shared fairly, with no citizen excluded from the benefits of national growth.
This approach, he said, is vital for strengthening Malaysia’s standing internationally while ensuring domestic stability.
The Sandakan event also underscored the Prime Minister’s broader message of unity. He urged Malaysians to reject divisive rhetoric and instead focus on collaboration, competence, and sincerity in governance.
“Our principle remains intact, which is to ensure that no one is left behind, and that every Malaysian experiences the benefits of development equitably,” he affirmed.
As Sabah and Sarawak continue to play a pivotal role in Malaysia’s political and economic landscape, Anwar’s call for inclusive leadership reflects his administration’s determination to build a nation that thrives on fairness, cooperation, and shared prosperity.
