KUCHING – His Excellency Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, Governor of Sarawak, today received a courtesy visit from a delegation ahead of the official launch of the biography “Abang Johari: Sarawak’s First Premier”.
The meeting took place at the Governor’s official residence, Kasuma Resort, at 10.00 am. The delegation was led by YB Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Premier of Sarawak, accompanied by Tan Sri Datuk Amar Leonard Linggi Tun Jugah, a prominent corporate figure and long-time acquaintance, and Encik Wan Mohamad Wan Ibrahim, Director of Limar Group of Companies.
The purpose of the visit was to extend a formal invitation to the Governor and Yang Amat Berbahagia Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi to officiate the biography’s launch ceremony, scheduled for tomorrow at the Dayak Cultural Foundation, Jalan Ong Tiang Swee.
The biography highlights the leadership journey of Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Zohari Tun Openg, Sarawak’s first Premier, chronicling his contributions to the state’s governance and development. The book is expected to provide valuable insights into his political career and vision for Sarawak’s future.
During the courtesy call, Tun Pehin Sri expressed his gratitude for the invitation and conveyed his prayers for the success of the event.
He emphasised the importance of documenting the legacy of Sarawak’s leaders, noting that such works serve as inspiration for future generations.
The launch ceremony is anticipated to draw participation from government officials, community leaders, and representatives of cultural organisations.
It will also mark a significant moment in Sarawak’s political history, celebrating the tenure of Abang Johari as the state’s first Premier following constitutional amendments that elevated the title from Chief Minister.
