Kuching Police Launch Major Night Operation to Curb Crime

KUCHING — The Kuching District Police Headquarters carried out a large-scale Integrated Crime Prevention Operation from 5 to 6 December 2025, aimed at strengthening public safety and reducing criminal activities across key areas in the city. The overnight operation, which ran from 10.00 pm to 5.00 am, involved a total of four senior officers and 32 junior officers from multiple divisions and stations under Kuching IPD.

The enforcement teams were deployed around the Sentral, Padungan, and Sekama Police Stations, focusing on locations known for heavy traffic, nightlife activity, and public movement. Police presence was visibly heightened as officers conducted roadblocks, crime prevention patrols, and inspections at entertainment outlets.

Throughout the operation, officers checked 235 individuals and 191 vehicles. A total of 108 summonses were issued for various traffic offences, reflecting the authorities’ firm stance on road safety and responsible driving.

According to police officials, the main objective of the Integrated Crime Prevention Operation is to curb criminal activities, strengthen on-ground visibility, and track down wanted individuals and suspicious vehicles. The operation, carried out in an integrated manner, aims to ensure that safety and public order throughout Kuching City remain well protected.

Authorities stressed that such operations will continue from time to time as part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order, especially in high-traffic and high-risk areas.
