KUCHING – The Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak (YPS) has reaffirmed its commitment to youth leadership and civic engagement as Projek SUARA 2.0 began its series of dialogues and policy discussions this week. The initiative is designed to strengthen public understanding of key issues shaping Sarawak’s future.
Speaking at the opening, YPS Chief Executive Datu Aloysius J Dris described the programme as a historic milestone in advancing transformative platforms that connect young Sarawakians with pressing national and state-level topics.
He noted that the initiative reflects both government and YPS’ dedication to nurturing undergraduates and young professionals as future leaders and catalysts for change.
“We are pleased to bring together 60 young people from throughout the state to deliberate on much-talked-about topics such as MA63, PCDS 2030 and youth as changemakers, which are now widely discussed in the media and public sphere,” he said.
Datu Aloysius explained that the programme is not only about exposing youth to critical issues but also about encouraging wider participation from parents and communities.
This approach ensures that discussions on development, identity, and governance resonate beyond the immediate participants, creating a ripple effect across society.
He emphasised that Projek SUARA 2.0 serves as a strategic avenue to shape a more informed and engaged society, contributing meaningfully to both current and future generations.
By fostering reflection, debate, and collaborative problem-solving, the programme aims to empower youth to take active roles in shaping Sarawak’s trajectory.
The dialogues will continue over the coming days, featuring sessions designed to encourage critical thinking and collective action.
Topics such as sustainable development, inclusivity, and governance are expected to dominate discussions, reflecting the growing awareness among young Sarawakians of their role in driving change.
Observers note that initiatives like Projek SUARA 2.0 highlight the importance of youth participation in policymaking and community development.
By creating platforms for dialogue, YPS is helping to ensure that the voices of the younger generation are heard, respected, and integrated into Sarawak’s long-term vision.
