SJKC Kung Cheng Honours Student Achievements with Prize-Giving Ceremony

MERADONG – Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Kung Cheng in Meradong held a prize-giving ceremony on Wednesday to celebrate the accomplishments of its students, marking another milestone in the school’s commitment to academic and personal excellence.

The event was officiated by Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, Meradong State Assemblyman, who commended the school for its dedication to recognising student achievements.

He emphasised that the ceremony was not only a celebration of success but also a reflection of the collective effort of teachers, parents, and the wider school community.

“The prize-giving ceremony is not only a platform to celebrate the students’ success, but also reflects the commitment of the entire school community in ensuring academic and personal excellence,” he said.

Datuk Ding highlighted that the students’ achievements were the result of discipline, perseverance, and strong parental support, alongside the guidance of teachers.

He encouraged the students to use their current success as motivation to strive for greater accomplishments in the future.

He also expressed deep appreciation for the teachers, describing them as the driving force behind the students’ growth.

According to him, educators play a crucial role not only in academic instruction but also in shaping the identity and character of the younger generation.

At the same event, Datuk Ding announced a contribution of RM3,000 through the Small Rural Project (MRP) grant to support the school’s annual activities in 2026.

The funding is expected to strengthen programmes that foster student development and enhance the learning environment.

The ceremony served as a reminder of the importance of community involvement in education. By recognising student excellence and supporting school initiatives, SJKC Kung Cheng continues to demonstrate its role as a cornerstone of learning and development in Meradong.

Observers note that such events highlight the broader commitment of Sarawak’s education sector to nurture talent and encourage resilience among students, particularly in rural areas.

The recognition of achievements and provision of resources are seen as vital steps in preparing students for future challenges while reinforcing the value of education in community development.
