BINTANGOR – Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Bandar Bintangor has received a RM3,000 allocation under the Minor Rural Project (MRP) scheme, aimed at strengthening its annual programmes for 2026.
The grant was presented during the school’s Excellence Appreciation and Graduation Ceremony for the 2025/2026 session.
The event celebrated achievements across academics, co-curricular activities, leadership and character development, while also serving as a motivational platform for students.
Meradong State Assemblyman, Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, highlighted that the financial support reflects the commitment of elected representatives to ensure schools in rural constituencies continue to thrive.
He emphasised that education remains a cornerstone of Sarawak’s development agenda, with MRP grants playing a vital role in sustaining school-level initiatives.
Datuk Ding noted that the ceremony was not only about recognising award recipients but also about inspiring all students to persevere, believe in their abilities and draw encouragement from the success of their peers.
“The success of students is born from close cooperation between the school and parents, who are likened to two wings that lift children to the peak of excellence,” he said.
He further congratulated Pre-School, Special Integrated Education (PPKI) and Year 6 pupils for completing an important stage of their education before progressing to the next level.
His remarks underscored the importance of inclusive education, particularly for children with special needs, who benefit from tailored programmes such as PPKI.
The assemblyman also expressed appreciation to teachers, parents and the wider community for their role in organising a meaningful and well-structured event.
He stressed that collaboration between stakeholders is essential in nurturing balanced and competitive students.
The MRP scheme, introduced by the Sarawak Government, has been widely implemented across the state to support schools, associations and community organisations.
In recent months, similar grants have been distributed to institutions in Sarikei and Lawas, reinforcing the government’s long-term commitment to rural education and community development.
Datuk Ding, who has served as Meradong’s representative since 2016, has consistently advocated for improved infrastructure and educational facilities in his constituency.
His involvement in initiatives such as the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) and MRP reflects broader efforts to ensure rural communities gain access to quality education and better amenities.
The SK Bandar Bintangor ceremony highlighted the school’s dedication to producing well-rounded students, combining academic excellence with leadership and character-building.
The grant is expected to further strengthen these efforts, ensuring that the school continues to provide a supportive environment for its pupils in the coming year.
