RM500k Hazland Hall Opens, Boosting Facilities in Kampung Tabuan Hilir

KUCHING – The residents of Kampung Tabuan Hilir now have access to a new multipurpose facility following the completion of the RM500,000 Datuk Dr Haji Hazland Hall, which was officially opened on Thursday.

The project, which took nine months to complete, was funded to provide the community with a modern and comfortable space for gatherings and events.

The hall can accommodate up to 300 guests and is expected to serve as a hub for social, cultural, educational and religious programmes.

The facility was named in honour of Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, Deputy Minister of Power and Environment and assemblyman for Demak Laut, recognising his contributions to the constituency’s development, particularly in Kampung Tabuan Hilir.

Speaking at the opening, Hazland highlighted the importance of such infrastructure in strengthening community ties and improving the well-being of residents.

He encouraged the hall to be used for a wide range of activities, including sports, economic initiatives and cultural programmes, which he said would foster unity and inclusivity.

Residents expressed their gratitude for the allocation that made the construction possible, noting that the hall would provide a more suitable venue for events compared to previous facilities.

Community leaders added that the hall would also support youth engagement and educational activities, helping to nurture future generations.

The completion of Hazland Hall reflects Sarawak’s broader commitment to community development, with similar projects being rolled out across constituencies to improve public amenities.

Local authorities emphasised that such facilities not only enhance quality of life but also create opportunities for residents to collaborate and celebrate their shared identity.

The opening ceremony was attended by community members and local leaders, who welcomed the hall as a symbol of progress and a valuable addition to Kampung Tabuan Hilir.
