Community Joins Hands for Beach Cleaning Drive in Tanjung Batu

Community Joins Hands for Beach Cleaning Drive in Tanjung Batu

BINTULU — A strong sense of community responsibility and environmental care was clearly seen during the Beach Cleaning Programme held at Tanjung Batu, Parkir 1, here on Saturday. The programme was successfully carried out through a strategic collaboration between the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) and Oriental System E&C Corporation (ORISYSENC), bringing together various parties with a shared goal of protecting the coastal environment.

The programme, themed “Together We Make Bintulu Cleaner”, was organised to raise public awareness on the importance of maintaining cleanliness along the beach while encouraging long-term environmental sustainability. Tanjung Batu, one of Bintulu’s popular recreational areas, was chosen as the location due to its importance as a public space for local residents and visitors.

From early morning, participants worked together to collect rubbish and debris scattered along the shoreline and surrounding areas. The activity highlighted the impact of improper waste disposal on the marine ecosystem and public safety. Plastics, food packaging and other non-biodegradable waste were among the items removed during the clean-up effort.

According to BDA, such programmes are part of continuous efforts to instil a sense of responsibility among the public towards environmental conservation. Clean beaches not only contribute to a healthier ecosystem but also enhance the quality of life for the community and support tourism development in Bintulu.

ORISYSENC’s involvement reflected the role of the private sector in supporting community-based environmental initiatives. The collaboration between public and private organisations demonstrated how joint efforts can lead to meaningful outcomes when it comes to preserving natural resources for future generations.

BDA expressed its highest appreciation and gratitude to all parties involved for their commitment, support and cooperation in ensuring the success of the programme. The authority also encouraged the public to play their part by practising proper waste disposal and respecting the environment at all times.

The Beach Cleaning Programme served as a reminder that environmental care is a shared responsibility. Through consistent awareness efforts and community participation, Bintulu can continue to maintain clean, sustainable and beautiful coastal areas. As development progresses, preserving nature remains essential to ensure a balanced and liveable environment for present and future generations.
