ICQS Biawak Hosts Visit Malaysia 2026 Celebration in Sarawak

LUNDU – The Immigration, Customs, Quarantine and Security Complex (ICQS) Biawak in Lundu became one of Sarawak’s focal points for the nationwide celebrations marking the launch of Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026).

The event, held on Thursday, was part of a coordinated effort across the country to welcome international tourists and highlight Malaysia’s tourism campaign.

The programme in Sarawak was officiated by Kuching Division Resident Dayang Joanita Awang Morshidi, who emphasised the importance of the initiative in boosting tourist arrivals and promoting Malaysia’s diverse attractions.

The celebration was organised by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industries and Performing Arts (MTCP) in collaboration with Tourism Malaysia.

It was conducted simultaneously at 55 major entry points and transport hubs nationwide, spanning 13 states and three Federal Territories.

ICQS Biawak was selected as one of the main venues due to its strategic role as a land entry point connecting Sarawak with Kalimantan, Indonesia.

The location serves as a gateway for cross-border travellers and is expected to play a key role in increasing tourist traffic into the state.

The event featured cultural showcases and promotional activities designed to highlight Sarawak’s unique heritage, natural beauty, and diverse tourism products.

Organisers noted that the reception reflects Malaysia’s commitment to positioning itself as a world-class destination while strengthening Sarawak’s role in the national tourism agenda.

The Sarawak Government has pledged continued support for VM2026 through its agencies, ensuring that tourism remains a vital contributor to both the state and national economy.

Officials stressed that the campaign aligns with Sarawak’s broader development goals, including enhancing infrastructure, promoting eco-tourism, and supporting local communities.

Also present at the ICQS Biawak celebration were Lundu District Officer Zulkarnain Ismail and representatives from various government departments and agencies, underscoring the collaborative effort behind the campaign.

The VM2026 initiative is expected to draw millions of visitors to Malaysia, with Sarawak positioned as a key destination offering culture, adventure, and nature experiences.
