Sarawak Governor Joins Friday Prayers At Darul Barakah Masjid

KUCHING – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, performed the Friday Fard Prayer at Darul Barakah Masjid, Taman Satria Jaya BDC this afternoon.

His arrival was warmly received by Ustaz Haji Mual bin Haji Suaud, Director of the Sarawak Islamic Religious Department (JAIS), alongside Dr Humrawali bin Hazid Ahmad Khan, Chairman of Darul Barakah Masjid, members of the mosque committee, local residents and worshippers.

The prayer was led by Ustaz Ahmad Asyraf bin Norhaza Ahmad Redzuan, who also delivered the Friday sermon entitled “Istiqamah Asas Meniti Jalan Keredhaan Allah SWT”.

The sermon emphasised the importance of steadfastness in faith as a foundation for seeking the pleasure of Allah.

Following the prayer, Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi spent time engaging with the congregation. He presented envelopes of donations to children, greeted worshippers and strengthened ties with the local Muslim community before departing.

The governor’s participation in the Friday prayers reflects his continued commitment to fostering close relations with religious institutions and the wider community.

His presence at Darul Barakah Masjid was seen as a gesture of solidarity and respect for the faithful, reinforcing the importance of unity and shared values in Sarawak.

Community members expressed appreciation for the governor’s visit, noting that such engagements help build stronger connections between leaders and the people.

The event also highlighted the role of mosques as centres of spiritual guidance and community bonding.
