Cerisologo Sabut Officially Appointed Kanowit District Officer

SIBU – Former Kapit District Officer Cerisologo Sabut has officially assumed his new role as Kanowit District Officer, following a handover ceremony held at the Sibu Resident’s Office on Friday.

The event was witnessed by Sibu Resident Abang Mohamad Porkan Abang Budiman, marking a smooth transition of responsibilities within the district administration.

Cerisologo’s appointment reflects the state’s ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership and governance at the district level.

The ceremony also saw the transfer of duties for the Rajang Central Regional Development Agency (MiRRDA) Special Administrative Officer post.

Kathreen Lalai Eddie Saga handed over the role to Jackline August @ August Jahar, who officially begins her tenure on 2 January 2026.

Kathreen Lalai, meanwhile, will continue her service in a new capacity at the Ministry of Women, Child Development and Community Welfare, where she has been appointed Deputy Permanent Secretary. She is scheduled to report for duty on 6 January 2026.

The dual handover highlights the importance of continuity and effective succession planning in Sarawak’s administrative framework.

Both appointments are expected to contribute to strengthening governance and ensuring that development initiatives in Kanowit and the wider Rajang region remain on track.

Local leaders expressed confidence that the new officers will bring fresh energy and commitment to their respective roles, supporting the state’s broader agenda of community development and public service excellence.
