Sarawak to Host Asia Pacific Aerospace Conference 2026

KUCHING – Sarawak is set to showcase its growing influence in the aerospace sector when it hosts the Asia Pacific Aerospace Conference & Exhibition (APACE) 2026 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) from 26 to 29 January.

The event, regarded as one of the region’s most significant aerospace gatherings, will highlight talent development in aviation, aerospace engineering, avionics and satellite technology.

The initiative reflects Sarawak’s ambition to strengthen its position as a hub for aerospace innovation and education.

Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn, Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, said the conference would play a crucial role in equipping Sarawakians with skills relevant to the industry.

He noted that the establishment of Sarawak’s own airline, Air Borneo, has created new opportunities for local talent.

“We want Sarawakians to have skills in avionics, aviation, aerospace, satellite technology and more. That is our main target at the initial stage,” he explained during a press conference following a courtesy call on Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg.

The conference is being organised by the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development in collaboration with ICATS University College, supported by Business Events Sarawak and Borneo Business Connect.

APACE 2026 is expected to attract more than 3,000 visitors, 1,000 delegates, 50 exhibitors and 60 distinguished speakers.

Over 50 conference sessions will be held, featuring contributions from leading organisations such as the National Aerospace Industry Corporation (NAICO Malaysia), NACO Netherlands, Malaysian Space Agency (MYSA), Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and NOVASPACE France.

Dato Sri Roland also confirmed that the delegation had extended an invitation to the Premier of Sarawak to officiate the event.

The announcement was made in the presence of Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development.

The conference is anticipated to provide a platform for knowledge exchange, international collaboration and industry networking.

It will also underline Sarawak’s commitment to nurturing talent and advancing its aerospace ambitions, aligning with broader efforts to diversify the state’s economy and strengthen its global profile.

By hosting APACE 2026, Sarawak aims not only to highlight its capabilities but also to inspire future generations to pursue careers in aerospace and aviation, ensuring that the state remains at the forefront of technological progress in the region.
