KUCHING – His Excellency the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, received a courtesy visit from the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs), YB Datuk Ts. Mustapha Sakmud, on Monday, 12 January 2026. The meeting took place at 10:00 AM at the official residence in Kasuma Resort, Petra Jaya.
The visit was attended by senior officers from the Prime Minister’s Department, including YBhg. Dato’ Ahmad Nadzri bin Mohd Hassan, Federal Secretary of Sarawak; Mr. Ahmad Nazib Johari, Political Secretary; Mr. Mohd Saiful Sungkih bin Abdullah, Divisional Secretary; Mr. Khairul Iswadi Ishak, Senior Private Secretary; Mr. Ahmad Farid Sainuri, Press Secretary; Mr. Muhammad Hisham bin Abdul Aziz, Head of Policy and Research Section; and Mr. Kamil Hakimi Abdullah, Principal Assistant Secretary.
The meeting lasted for more than an hour and focused on several key issues. Among the main topics discussed were the ongoing efforts to strengthen the implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and the importance of ensuring balanced development between Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia.
Both sides emphasised the need for effective policy coordination between the Federal Government and the Sarawak Government.
The discussion highlighted the joint commitment to implement development agendas according to established plans and timelines, ensuring that progress benefits communities across the state.
During the session, Tun Pehin Sri shared his insights and experiences from his long career in federal service.
He also reflected on the constitutional role and responsibilities of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, underscoring the importance of maintaining harmony between state and federal institutions.
Tun Pehin Sri expressed optimism that the courtesy visit would further strengthen strategic cooperation between the Federal Government and Sarawak.
He stressed that such engagements are vital for advancing comprehensive development agendas aimed at improving the well-being of the people and supporting the state’s long-term progress.
The visit reaffirmed the commitment of both governments to work closely in addressing regional priorities, particularly in ensuring that Sarawak continues to benefit from equitable growth and national development initiatives.
