Sarawak Premier Joins Civil Government Settlement in Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR – The Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, attended the Civil Government Settlement 2026 in the capital on Sunday, 11 January 2026.

The council meeting was convened to strengthen coordination between federal and state administrations, providing a platform for policy alignment, exchange of views, and ensuring that Sarawak’s priorities are consistently represented at the national level.

As chairman of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), the Premier highlighted several issues directly affecting the lives of Sarawakians. His interventions underscored the importance of addressing regional concerns within broader national strategies, particularly in areas such as infrastructure, economic growth, and equitable development.

The Civil Government Settlement serves as a forum for leaders to deliberate on governance matters and to ensure that state-level interests are integrated into federal planning. It also reflects the government’s commitment to fostering dialogue and collaboration across different levels of administration.

During the session, Abang Johari reiterated Sarawak’s determination to pursue balanced development, stressing that policies must be tailored to meet the unique needs of the state. He emphasised that Sarawak’s voice should remain prominent in national discussions, especially in matters that directly impact the welfare of its people.

The Premier’s participation reinforced Sarawak’s proactive role in shaping national policy directions. His presence also demonstrated the state’s commitment to constructive engagement with federal authorities, ensuring that Sarawak continues to benefit from national initiatives while safeguarding its distinct priorities.

The Civil Government Settlement 2026 is expected to pave the way for stronger cooperation between the federal government and state administrations, with Sarawak playing a central role in advancing development agendas that contribute to Malaysia’s overall progress.
