KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim visited several schools in Sungai Besi on Monday morning to oversee the distribution of Early Schooling Assistance, a programme designed to ease the financial burden of parents as their children begin the academic year.
Accompanied by his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, the Prime Minister toured SK Sungai Besi, SJKC Kwong Hon, and SJKT Sungai Besi.
The initiative provides financial support to families, ensuring that children are better prepared for their schooling needs.
During the visit, Anwar took time to meet and comfort young pupils who had just entered school. He remarked that the joy and excitement on their faces symbolised not only the hopes of their parents but also the confidence of their teachers and the aspirations of Malaysia’s future.
The Prime Minister emphasised that schools are more than centres of learning; they are also vital spaces for shaping character, discipline, and identity.
He reaffirmed that education will remain a top priority for the government, stressing that its success depends not only on policies and reforms but also on strong cooperation between the government, parents, and educators.
“A strong relationship between all parties is important to ensure that children receive comprehensive support, whether at school or at home,” he said.
Anwar further highlighted the importance of values and humanity in education, noting that quality schooling must go beyond academics to nurture moral and resilient individuals.
He expressed confidence that Malaysia can produce a generation capable of facing challenges with enthusiasm and confidence.
The Early Schooling Assistance programme is part of the government’s broader commitment to social welfare and education reform.
By reducing household expenditure and supporting families, the initiative aims to ensure that every child has equal access to opportunities for growth and learning.
The Prime Minister’s visit reinforced the government’s pledge to prioritise education as a cornerstone of national development, with a vision of building a knowledgeable and ethical generation for the future.
